This is how you can choose your engineering stream:
Many of us don’t know How to Choose Best Engineering Course? and Which is the best engineering course?. Here you can get some useful tips in choosing best Engineering Course. Before 2000, there were very less engineering colleges and average students usually did not get a chance to think about what is best course for them. As time moved ahead every state, specially south Indian states permitted many engineering colleges and gave students a chance to study their desired course.
take stream as what you want;
what difficuilties you may face in FUTURE:
Engineering is a basically a combination of theory and practical. Keeping this in view and thinking about the course will help you to make decision about you choice. Let me start with Civil engineering, this is a wonderful course and almost every college have good infrastructure for this, both in terms of faculty and laboratories. On the other hand this is really a tough job and most of the going to sites and taking care of construction management stuff. You can not make good money in this field working for someone and starting own company need good investment and contacts, which is difficult for a common Indian family. Mechanical Engineering comes with similar issues.
At last we are left with Computer engineering and IT. The infrastructure required for these courses is very easy to provide and if teaching is not good at college finding a tutor outside even in a small town is not a problem .More importantly when google, Microsoft and other top companies come for campus interviews they don’t allow any other stream than CS and IT.
There are core branches like Electronics,Mechanical,Civil.The advantage of these branches is that lots of government, public sector jobs are there for these branches.Though there are government jobs for non-core branches also but the number of post for non-core branches in government sector is generally low.
The branches like computer science ,information technology are also good.They can give you a way to enter in the IT Sector.Also you can get good and fast growth in IT Sector as compared to government sector. But jobs are not secured in IT Sector as compared to in government sector. but it can give you huge money as compared to other branch
you may leave for FOREIGN where CS/IT have more demand than other when you Have a SKILLS
So to decide which branch to opt do following things:
1.Try to know what kind of job you will get after completing the degree.For example, after completing degree in CS/IT you will get job related to computer software,hardware,networking,etc.
2.Try to know which kind of job you will be interested to do which will help you in choosing your branch.
3.Consult the students pursuing engineering or have completed engineering.Ask them about the ranking of various branches, about campus placements of the branches.This will also help you in choosing your branch.
4.If you are interested in government jobs then core branches will be preferable(my own opinion).Private sector give you good salary and fast growth but jobs are not secure.

How to select the best stream in engineering among these many?
As there are so many branches available in engineering, it is difficult to choose the best one from it. Almost every branch in the engineering course has got good scope in the specified or related field. Only thing needed for fetching good opportunity is excellent academics and skills in the particular branch. While selecting a particular branch, candidates should ensure whether it suits their skills and interest. Candidates can pursue the particular course successfully only if they possess deep interest and passion in the specified subjects. Those who are interested to pursue a job-oriented course after 12th should choose that branch which has got wide range of career opportunities in private and public sector. Candidates who are interested in research field should choose that branch which has got lot of research level higher studies options. Candidates should be well-determined while selecting difficult branches as lot of hard work and passion will be needed for completing such courses successfully.
Ultimately you have to decide which branch to choose.Try to consult with seniors, experienced person,etc, know about future prospects of a branch, try to know you own area of interest, your own strong and weak points then come to a decision.
