Should you pay the huge donation amount to get into a college of higher ‘brand value’?
This question raise to many one of us?
The article can just end here, but then what’s 100marks here for?
First of all, if you just wanna pursue engineering for the sake of money and reputation, then, pursue C.A (Engineering is not easy either) or start a business or doing something of that sort, should be your priority.
Now, for those who actually want to manifest science, from being a mere philosophy to being used practically, do not let these shining “brands” fool you, for you know, although the saying’s old but, all that glitters is not gold. Do not make your parents go bankrupt by giving huge donations to these colleges.
But the question of placements is also very crucial. So, remember, gone are those days when placements were only limited to colleges, nowadays, as we are progressing, offline placements are exponentially increasing in number, with players like naukri.com, eLitmus.com, monster.com, etc coming to the rescue of students. Let me give you an example, my senior bagged a campus placement of 3LPA, and later on secured another placement (OFFCAMPUS) of 5.5LPA! So, it’s not that there’s a shortage of jobs, the shortage is of employable engineers. if you have a SKILL no one is going to stop u to high salary job
So, if you are an employable pal, the companies will fight among each other to get you on their side, without seeing which college you hail from.
See, almost every college manages to get a few companies to visit their campus for placements. The famous ones get more companies obviously. But here’s the twist, the colleges tend to showcase their brand by listing the “Number of Companies” and “Number of Placements” along with their advertisements. Don’t let this fool you.
Always enquire for the packages offered. The colleges play technically here, since a placement, whether of Rs.10,000/mo or Rs.50,000/mo, is technically a placement!
So, use your brain, and focus on becoming an employable engineer (thereby you’ll automatically bag a job), instead of bankrupting your parents & just roaming around with the brand that you’ve bought. Settle with the college that you have got, Focus on your skills & development.
